What is English Language Development?

 

The English Language Development (ELD) program provides cultural awareness as well as direct instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English for students to successfully reach grade level standards.

Role of the ELD Teacher

  1. Provide direct instruction in social and academic language in the four domains, according to each student’s language proficiency level.
  2. Collaborate with teachers to identify the academic language embedded in the curriculum across content areas.
  3. Collaborate with teachers about best practices and resources for working with English Language Learners
